Benjamin in Endacopia: The Wizard Cat Fight in Misery Town
Benjamin is the cat in the pointed hat who never looks up from his book — and one of the few things in Misery Town that can kill Mellow outright.
Where he is
From the Pierrot’s booth area, take the stairs up and go right (the wiki puts him “to the right side of the level above where the Pierrot’s booth is”; the Steam walkthrough describes it as through the clown-face door into the bouncy-castle area, upstairs, then right). Super-Saver is in the same area. Looking at him, Mellow says: “A wizard of sorts.. Interrupting their studies may not be wise..”
How to start the fight (and how not to)
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Touch him with hands | Boss fight starts |
| Talk to him (“Hey! Psst! What are you reading?”) | He sets you on fire — instant death, respawn on the spot |
| Touch him without hands | Same instant death |
He is optional. Nothing in the story needs him beaten.
The fight
Benjamin has a single attack. He subtly looks left, right or centre, then casts a fireball in that direction — block it. He does this four times, then stops to read his book, which is your window to punch. Repeat until he drops. It is the gentlest introduction to the block-then-punch rhythm every other boss uses; the bosses page has the full roster.
Why bother
- Every knockout counts toward A Natural Brawler (15 enemies across any number of playthroughs).
- He is one of the minor bosses the wiki attributes to Kickstarter backer rewards (ten $1,000 slots let backers design an enemy); which backer made Benjamin is not recorded.
The other optional fights in the same district — the Cowboy’s duel and Chimeramanticore on the lamppost bird — are on the mini-bosses list; the full cast is on all characters.
